Confessions of a Germ-a-phobe

So, I love Pinterest - it lets me find great ideas for things that help with my axieties. Like random people thinking they should get up in your baby's face - especially when they are sleeping - and touch them! Yuck. So, I found awesome instructions on how to build a handy carseat tent for when the new baby is still tiny enough to be carted around in the seat.

And just in case that is not enough we still have the handy STOP sign that has been on the carseat since Parker was riding in it. Stay back creepy strangers! Yes, I may be a little crazy, but at least I am also productive.

Saturday Brunch

On Saturday we went to brunch with the Josephs. Andrea brought her camera and took some cute photos of one of our last beautiful fall days...

Another new park - we love Fall!

Saturday we met Andrea and Travis in the city for brunch. We had a great time - and the weather was fantastic. On the way home we stopped at another new park for Parker to check out.

Unlike some of the other ones we have found lately, this one was more old-fashioned and all wood.

Parker thought it was a great change from the parks we usually go to.

And like all good parks, it had a great slide!
This park really reminded me of parks from when I was a kid - ah memories!

Monkey Face

We have been very fortunate with both Parker and his new sister that our friends Cole and Eve outgrow a lot of clothes and toys just in time for Parker and his sister to use them. Right now Baby Girl Culver's closet is packed with clothes from Eve and her cousin. However, sometimes I think that Aunt Heather sends things just to see what my reaction will be.
And so let me introduce you to Monkey Face...
From Photos of Parker Year 3
Monkey Face was one of Cole's favorite toys for quite a while. His mommy hated Monkey Face and talked about it often. The main problem is that Monkey Face seems to follow you with his eyes when you move around the room - like those really old black and white photos - and therefore Monkey Face is creepy. As any good Mommy would, Heather allowed Cole to keep Monkey Face and even bought a backup Monkey Face in case anything should befall the original.
Of course, once Cole transitioned away from Monkey Face and to his dinosaur blanket his mommy was very happy. And it just so happens that Even did not enjoy Monkey Face's creepy face any more than Mommy or I did. So, what happens to be in the latest bog of hand-me-downs for the Culver children? Monkey Face and his twin! AHHHHH! What to do? Do we hide Monkey Face and bestow him on some unsuspecting kid at a yard sale or Goodwill? Do we allow the Culver children to even see Monkey Face? Because of course my concern is not that Baby Girl will like him - but Parker will, which will cause a much bigger problem! Darn you Monkey Face! The jury is still out.

Washington Nationals Baseball

Daddy got some free tickets to the Washington Nationals vs. Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon. He even found out we could park for free at the Naval Yard a few blocks from the stadium.

On the way to the stadium was a really cool fountain by the Department of Transportation Building.

Parker wanted to walk by the "waterfall", but made sure to hold Daddy's hand so he didn't fall in!

Some pretty good seats - especially for free!

Rainy Painting

We had a really rainy Tuesday last week so we decided it was a great day for some paiting...

Luckily Mommy has a bunch of leftover wrapping paper from Christmas last year and we use it to protect our "craft" area.

Sometimes painting is easier when you stand up. And, as you can see, we must paint with minimal clothing because the creativity can get a little messy. When it was all done the painting only lasted about 20 minutes, but it was lots of fun and a great rainy day activity.

Cole and Eve Visit Again!

Mommy has some of the greatest girlfriends in the whole world! To celebrate the last few days before another baby arrives, Andrea and Heather got together to take Mommy out to brunch and a pedicure. Ben even watched all three kids by himself while we were gone!
To partake in this wonderful girls' day, Heather drove down with Cole and Even on Saturday night when she got off work. Of course as soon as she arrived all three kids decided they actually weren't tired or ready for bed - even though it was about 10PM.

Eve wanted to have some time playing with the dogs - she loves the big faces!

Parker wanted some time playing with Eve! He loves her and thinks it is lots of fun to sit and hold her.

Finally we convinced the kids that it was time for pajamas and stories. As you can tell - Parker was wondering how he would sleep in his bed with all these kids in it!

In the morning Eve slept in while the boys played for a little while. Chance decided it was his duty to climb up on the bed to watch her and make sure she slept soundly...Oh wait, who are we kidding? Chance just loves an excuse to climb on the nice, soft bed.

The boys got to sit at the big table to have their eggs, pancakes and milk! Eve sat up with them in the highchair later...

While I took a shower and Heather got pumped some milk for Ben's babysitting duties, Parker babysat Eve. LOL, not really, but Parker does LOVE Eve! Cole was digging into Parker's toybox while Parker sat and talked with Eve...so cute!

When we got home we rescued Ben - who had done a wonderful job - and took the kids to the park for some playtime. Eve loved hanging out with Andrea and playing on the Dumbo bouncer. Andrea enjoyed it quite a bit too!

Before Cole and Eve climbed in the car for the drive home we made sure they had dinner, a bath and pjs...hopefully to make the probability of sleeping in the car greater...The boys got to paint in the bath...

Cole lived up to his reputation as the bath toy hoarder...
We had such a great visit - but we wish it had been longer! Very soon we will be heading up to NJ to visit you guys!

Gifts from "Aunt" Tiff

One of Ma Pat's besties - "Aunt" Tiff - sent some gifts for Parker and Baby Sister the other day.

We are working on explaining that there are some Parker Presents and some presents for others, but Parker still thinks he should open everything. We do still let him open most of Baby Sister's gifts.
"Aunt" Tiff sent Baby Sister some great clothes for Fall/Winter - she will be all decked out in sweaters and sweater dresses.

Then we got to see what was in the bag for Parker...

It was a View Finder! Who remembers those? Parker was so excited - and what added to the excitement?

Lightning McQueen discs! He spent the entire rest of the night looking at all the pictures and tell me what he saw. What a great gift! Thanks Moore Family!

Killer Casserole

When Mommy was growing up there was something we could usually count on for some of Pa Lar's cooking nights - Killer Casserole! It is a hand-me-down recipe from Parker's Great Grandma Bosworth. Mommy decided it was time for Parker to experience it for the first time...

He liked it a lot -we called it Cheesy Noodles, and I think he would agree to have it again. And best of all - Pa Lar would be very proud!
