Today is officially our final day of Shower in a Box! This has been such an amazing gift from not only my Mom, but all of our amazing friends and family as well! I will be sure to keep not only all the cards and notes that we have received for Baby Culver through this adventure - but also the numbered "advent" box that Mom created. It truly has been amazing to be "showered" with everyone's love!
Today's present begins from a funny little obsession I have had for many years now. Any of my close friends/family could tell you that from a very young age I have been a big fan (ok, HUGE fan) of Disney. I blame Mom and Dad - who began to take me and Jim to Disneyland when I was about 4. I think that those of us who have grown up with Disney have one (or two) favorite characters that they relate to. For me, it has always been Merryweather (the blue fairy from Sleeping Beauty) and Eyeore. I am not entirely sure why Eyeore has struck a cord with me, but I am sure my mom would say it has something to do with my demeanor in the mornings, personally I think Eyeore and I get a bad rap! Anyway, today's final gift came from Aunt Terri, Uncle Tim, Taylor, and Abby and included the following message in the numbered box: "Dear Baby Culver, This will be something you have to fight your mama to keep. It isn't an indication of what we think your personality will be; just a fun part of your mama's history passing to you." Today Baby Culver received this large stuffed Eyeore straight from Disneyland (as you can see from the tag on his ear). He is about the softest stuffed animal I have ever seen, and I am sure that Baby Culver will love him - even if he is a little cranky sometimes (you would be too if your tail always fell off)!

WOW! I can't believe that Baby Shower In A Box is officially completed!
ReplyDeleteWhen I started thinking about this and that I'd want it completed just a few weeks before BBC's arrival, it seemed so far off! And, now, here it is!
I hope this non-traditional shower brought a little bit of love to the three of you, from all of us in the far-flung corners of the country...From Washington, DC, Vermont, New Jersey, California, Missouri, Oregon, Washington and Nevada! Wow...that's quite a roll call...did I miss anyone?
Anyway, with tears in my eyes, I share in your profound gratitude at the love and generosity that your family and friends have shown to you.
You've done an awesome job at updating your blog with this little celebration and making us feel like we were right there with you...every day!
I love you more then you can imagine...until BBC is in your arms...and then, you'll know.
Love,
Mom
