While the Mommies waited in line for our packets the boys got out to run around and get out some energy. The also spent some time tumbling down the hill...It was pretty funny.
Silly boys playing in the BOB while we waited for lunch. We found an amazing sandwich shop - however I am not sure we could find it again, and we are pretty sure we found a crack ally along the way - ah memories.
With lunch in hand we made it to a gorgeous church garden where we sat to have a picnic. Did I mention how good those sandwiches were? I ate mine and half of Parker's.
Riley got some love from Tricia...silly baby.
Outside Nike Georgetown was the wall with all the participants' names. I look exactly like I had been walking around Georgetown carrying a baby on a hot day, but it was still a necessary photo op!
And you can't go to Georgetown without getting cupcakes! We stopped by Baked and Wired for goodies and found a patch of grass for the boys to sit and eat. Don't worry, we brought some back for Ben too.
Home for playtime! Do you notice the fantastic jet-packs that Cole's mommy made? They help the boys blast off - I think that Parker only took his off to sleep for the next 4 days.
Eve checking out Riley's Activity Center.
Playing construction in Parker's Park.
Sunday morning was race day! We were up at 4:30 to catch the metro by 5. Ben stayed home with the Big Boys and from what I hear, slept until 8AM and spent the morning with Toucan Sam and Lightning McQueen.
The girls woke up with the mommies, bundled up in the BOB and headed out on this crazy adventure.
First stop was Tricia's hotel room for a quick pre-race diaper change and snack.
Here we go!
We were the only crazies who brought along a double jogging stroller to the race! We started in the back to be out of the way, but figured we passed about 3,000 people on our way to the finish! Most were happy to see us pass, some not so much, but we laughed the whole time.
Thank goodness we both trained with the double BOB, and that we brought the lighter of the 4 kids.
About Mile 10!
And we finally see the finish! As any racer knows, you may have walked a lot of the race, but you never walk through the finish!
Especially when men in tuxedos wait at the end with Tiffany's boxes!
The ladies receiving their coveted blue boxes.
And this little gem now lives in Riley's room. Someday she may decide to wear it and I can tell her the story of Mommy and crazy Aunt Heather one April morning, running and laughing and wondering if we had lost our minds.
