Oregon Trip - Part 2: Trains!

A few weeks before our trip to Oregon Pa Lar saw an article in the local paper about a train park that is only open twice a month. It is full of model trains and even train rides - and is free!

The park is run entirely by volunteers and like any train experts, they know that the quickest way to please a kid is with our good friend Thomas.
Thomas was actually on a couple of different tracks, and some of his trains worked better than others, but it was great to see him chugging along!

One of the park volunteers even let Parker try his hand at driving one of the trains!
And it just so happened it was the Hogwarts Express. A new exhibit at the park this year that features Hogwarts and some of our other favorite Harry Potter landmarks.

During his "conductor lesson" the park volunteer told him that when he gets close to the station he needs to slow the train down and stop it...turns out he drives like Daddy - full steam ahead until you slam on the breaks, but to his credit he arrived right at the station.

Here is one of our Thomas friends having some difficulties. Annie and Clarabel just laughed.
Ma Pat was the lucky one who got to go on a little train ride around the train park. They went all over the train park and had a great time.
They also had a smaller train ride just for the little kids to ride. And it was pulled by our friend Percy! Parker was first in line when it was his turn so he got to sit right up front.
And apparently he spent the whole ride talking the ear off of Percy's driver.
Riley was not as excited about all the train commotion - but enjoyed her snack in the BOB. However, she was very excited to play in the grass while brother climbed on one of the playground trains.

Great find Pa Lar!
