Oregon Trip - Part 3: Friends And Fun!

One of the best parts of our visit to Medford was all the new friends!
Parker met a great new friend at Ma Pat's house - Jaide! She is a year younger than Parker and Uncle Jim's little friend! Parker even brought her a super cape with a "J" on it so they could be super hero pals together!
 To the Rescue!
Riley decided she didn't need playmates - just mashed potatoes...
But Maddie disagreed. She thought Riley needed a 4-legged playmate - to share toast with in the mornings.
While we were visiting Uncle Jim invited us to play with him, Sandy, and Jaide at a local spray park by his house. It is a great little park with a ton of fountains and things that may dump on you at any moment. When we first got there it was still a little chilly for water play - Riley was a little hesitant to jump right in...
So, she decided to have a snack with Ma Pat while brother checked out the water park.
Uncle Jim has always been one of the "jump in don't just dip your toe" kind of people...can you tell?
The giant barrel at the park fills with water until it is all full and then it sprays in a giant ark. Jim tried to get the little kids to stand with him under the barrel when it would start to get full...
He tricked them once, but they didn't volunteer for that one again...
After some good playtime it was time for a snack. Jaide even let Parker borrow her extra pair of sunglasses! We made sure Daddy brought Parker's from Maryland a few days later, but Thanks Jaide!
Riley still wasn't so sure about the water park action, but is always happy for some Uncle Jim time.
After snack Mommy got in on the action some more and Riley came along for some mild water play.
And after a lot of coaxing we even managed to get Ma Pat in for one good race through the water arches. But she didn't want anything to do with the barrel.
Back at Ma Pat and Pa Lar's house we always spent a lot of time playing with all of the fun toys there. There were new treasures for the kids as well as older ones from when Mommy and Uncle Jim were little.
Of course Mommy can never pass up an opportunity to go to Red Robin. We decided to take the chance one warm day, but first we went to the park to get some "crazies" out of the kids. Of course Riley is always happy when swings are involved.
And Parker loves investigating game rooms. After we had lunch Mommy helped him win a new ball from one of the claw games.
Playing at Ma Pat and Pa Lar's house is really tiring. Naptime was always very important.
One of our favorite things about time in Oregon is all the wonderful people we get to spend time with that we don't see often. We loved every minute with Uncle Jim! Especially because Parker discovered that Ma Pat has a HUGE supply of legos and Uncle Jim is a lego master. He helped Parker make this awesome helicopter.
We also got to spend almost a week with Great Grandma Sterr. She hadn't seen Parker since he was about 10 months old. Parker suckered her into playing his new Planes matching game at least a few times.
More lego fun with Uncle Jim - big or small, he knows how to build!
And when Friday rolled around Riley got to meet Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Bosworth!

Great Grandpa is a sucker for little girls and was happy to spend some time hanging with Riley.
Great Grandma also enjoys her baby girl time...
Great Grandma is a great story reader - she even got Riley to sit still for a minute.
Riley took some time to try out Great-Grandpa's walker - it is always a hit with the babies!

On Saturday, before the wedding, we took a trip down to Toys R Us to check out their Thomas Loot. But of course we had to spend some time checking out all their other toys too - Parker thought he would love cruising around in this new ride...we thought not.
But both kids made out pretty good - a couple of trains for Parker, and a baby doll and little piano (birthday present from Great Grandma Sterr) - not such a bad outing.
